I just determined last night that I would get up at 6am today because I wanted to have a few hours of peace and quiet to accomplish several things – before the rest of the house woke up and totally distracted me with their “will you do this” and “I need this….”. The only thing rambling around the house with me are my two wild and crazy feline companions – Misha and Raina. They have already run through the entire house several times – up and down on the back of chairs and basically turned the place upside down! They are still toddlers.
The first thing I wanted to accomplish before the world woke up was to prepare my Sunday school lesson for tomorrow. It is about Daniel in the lion’s den and while it is such a familiar childhood story it’s applications for us grown ups is tremendous! It is a story about Godly character – allowing others to see Jesus more clearly and it is about trusting God to deliver us when we have set our hearts and minds on Him – the one who keeps us in perfect peace if we keep our hearts and life totally focused on Him.
Then I jumped on FB and got caught up on everyone’s lives and left a quick status and left. I am now working on my blog, went to my fave spot Ravelry and did want to knit for a few minutes, but I can always do that when the rest of the house wakes up. I have to do laundry but don’t want to run the machine for fear it will wake others! I am going to go to my wonderful coffee machine and put in a k-cup and enjoy my second cup of the day. Decaf donut shop for this second cup because I don’t want to get too juiced up!!!!
If you looked out my window right now you would see 6 inches of snow! It looks like mid-January instead of March. Can’t complain because this is probably as much snow that has fallen in any given time all winter long! God has blessed me and heard the cry of my heart and gave us a mild winter. My children were able to get to and fro to work without too many horrible drives – that is what I mostly worry about. As they become seasoned drivers they will turn into pros at getting around in the snow, but right now……. they are still learning. (They would hate for me to have said that….they think they can drive better than anyone else!)
I am waiting patiently (not really) for my needles to come from Knitpicks and then I will start learning Cat Bordhi’s moebius knitting tech. I am anxious and excited at the same time! Thank the Lord for the internet and the ability to watch youtube teaching videos. When I learned to knit socks on two circular needles from Cat’s book there was not video instrustions (I am sure there are now) and her book was written so well I had no trouble learning that. But then, I was also many years younger. I would never go back to knitting socks on dpn – tho working with dpn is not a horrible thing. So I am feeling more excited then anxious because I believe I will be able to “get it” with the help of the youtube video.
This is what is going on right outside my window this early morning. They are here in the trees by the 100’s – grackles (my Dad use to call them one eyed jacks – don’t even ask me why!) red wing black birds, starlings and cowbirds. It is driving Misha and Raina crazy and they are flying from one window to the next and when they move of course the birds take off in a swishing sound that can be heard even in the house with the windows closed tight. Then the girls run away thinking the birds are coming for them. When the birds settle down again on the ground the girls gather again to check them out and the cycle starts again!!!! Silly girls!
Well, the house is starting to wake up so I will close this off for today.
