I am falling grossly behind in my knitting. My daughter had her old college roommate visiting from Boston for a week and the business of entertaining and making sure she felt welcome overshawdowed my ability to get much knitting done. When they were off doing their own thing, I sat at work. When I got home, they were there and chores needed to be done etc.
I am waiting for my book to come that will teach me (God willing) to knit two socks at a time. I started another moebius cowl with the correct weight of wool and needle size…… I LOVE this wool. It came from Hobby Lobby and was a close out so it will never appear again! I like the size – and of course it keeps me brushed up on the moebius cast on etc. I finished my first moebuis basket but have not run it through the washer machine to felt it. I will put a picture of it felted when it is done. Here is the beginnings of the cowl:
I look forward to wearing this in the fall (if I don’t find someone to give it to). I just love the round and round moebuis zen I get making one of these! The cast on this time went much better BUT I did tell everyone in the room to leave and not talk to me until I gave the all clear!!! They scattered like fleas when a light gets turned on!!
This is a busy week – Palm Sunday my husband did a reading at the community area churches Palm Sunday service. Then on Thursday is it Maundy Thursday which wiki says:
is the Christian feast or holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles as described in the Canonical gospels. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, and is preceded by Spy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.
We will have a special Thursday service and of course there is Good Friday with another community area church service and another reading for my husband to do. He has a wonderful speaking voice – he is always given compliments on how it sounds.
Easter Sunday will fill the day : Sunrise service, brunch at church, regular church service, and Easter dinner with my husband and I hosting our girls and their friends/boyfriends. This will be only the second Easter I have ever “hosted”!! My entire LONG life I/we have gone “home” to my folks house to share Easter dinner with them. Now that my Dad is in the nursing home my Mom just goes up there and spends the day with him. My Dad is not able to come and go from the nursing home and she is pretty stubborn about spending the whole day with him. I offered to come home and make everything while she was up there but she said no. It still seems strange to not load all the kids and pies into the car and head 90 miles down the road to my Mom’s house for the day.
I always have my eyes roaming for new things and one of my dear Ravelry friends is making beautiful shawls (check out her blog: http://ruralpearls.blogspot.com/ ) I found this cute one called : Honey Pot One Skein Shawl – made with one skein of sock weight wool and size 5 needle! Wow, that sounds like something I might be able to handle. I tried a shawl using lace wool and teenie tiny needles and I about cried! Here is a closeup of it’s design:
I have to do some more thinking on this. I am holding myself back from doing too much until my sock book arrives. And even at that I won’t do anything until after the Easter weekend has passed. Too much planning and cleaning and etc. I am tired just thinking about it!
Hey Aubrey – does this look complicated for a beginner????? The pattern says that the edging is knit on separately .
