I have been stalking the NY State Fair website daily. Everyday it has read : 2011 – competition results. But TODAY, YES – it now says:
THE GREAT NEW YORK STATE FAIR – 2012
Yipee! I have downloaded and printed their Arts & Crafts entry forms for all the fiber competitions. I am so excited (though I don’t want to see August 2012 come so fast because I have a lot of knitting to do!) because of circumstances last year, I was not able to enter any of my items- and it really hurt to walk through the winning displays last year knowing I was not a part of any of it!!! Boo hooo!
In 2010 I proudly won four ribbons – all of the ribbons were for my felted items. I was able to get two blue ribbons and the rest were 2nd place. I am very lucky because the “felting” craze has not reached the NY State fair exhibits yet, so I was able to grab some nice prizes. My total monetary award was $10 and it is NOT about the money. It really isn’t about the ribbons either, it just is plain FUN!
Look at these lovely sweaters! I give everyone lots of praise and credit for taking on sweaters. I have done a couple baby sweaters, but not an adult one!
I like to make small projects – my attention span is really short and I hated taking on something really big and then stuffing it in a bag with the instructions and never looking at it again. Six months later I frog the yarn and start some smaller project.
I love the green sweater in the upper left hand corner. Very nice!
We are blessed to live about 20 minutes outside of the city where the NY State Fair is held so it makes it doubly nice to go and view the displays etc.
I will close with photos of a couple of my entries and the ribbons that went with them.
Wish me luck for 2012!
