The weather is perfect here in Cental NY. I hate to be sitting here at work, but keep telling myself that I have to work to pay for my terrible knitting addiction!
Still trying to get caught up with home, work and life after our little adventure. Both my husband and I have passed out in our chairs at 8pm the last couple nights – I think the trip has finally caught up with us.
I am heading down the foot to the toe on sock one of two in the pair that I was working on called my road trip socks. I should have sock #1 done this weekend. I have decided to help cure my SSS (second sock syndrome) I will only have one pair of socks going at a time. I have my next sock picked out, but by the time I am ready to start that could be all changed!!
Last night, while waiting for others to arrive at church, I decided that it would be good for my body AND my soul to go for a walk along the Erie Canal that runs through the village of Canastota, NY.
I snapped some pictures with my cell phone (because I forgot my camera) so you will have to take that into consideration when looking at them!
The algae on the canal is the thickest I have seen in years. It almost looked like you could walk across the canal on the top of it – it was that thick! But from the looks of this picture, this lovely little family didn’t have any trouble!
Disgusting looking yuck isn’t it?
I was rewarded with wild flowers of all kinds along the tow path – some I knew, and others I did not.
These almost look like sweet peas!
The canal system ran from east to west through the entire state of NY and was the way we got things done in NY (along with the railroads). Now the canal has been changed into almost a NY state park, and there is a tow path that follows the canal almost it’s entire length. Some things/buildings along the canal were abandoned and never torn down. It makes for an ugly sight.
It was a pleasant walk, showing me that I am totally out of shape. Later I went home and passed out in my chair from the “overwork” I gave my legs!!!!
