Panic mode people!
That is where I have been. The deadline to send in the entry form is 7/9, so I had to sit and really focus my whole thought process. You are allowed to enter only 5 entries total. Only one entry for each class but you can have more than one entry in a specific divison.
I had to do some hard core reality checking on what I know for sure what I will be able to complete in time for the actual submission date of 8/4. I decided on 5 projects that are State Fair worthy.
1. Felted adult helmet hat
2. Felted Dumpling Bag
3. Felted pin cushion (looks like a pumpkin)
4. Hedgehog finger puppet (felted)
5. Pair of self striped boot socks
The stress is that only the pair of socks are totally done! The rest of the projects are in various stages of being done. The one that will only take me less than an hour to finish is the helmet hat – I just have to attach the “top” decoration (hard to describe – will show you later when I take pictures of the completed items). The next project that will take a little bit more than an hour to finish is the pin cushion – again, the finishing details are not done on it yet – attaching felted leaves and stems etc.
The hedgehog finger puppet is a story unto itself! These started out as those cute hedgehog toddler slippers I was making for a co worker. Yah, I felted them on Saturday morning and they were a total NOT happening event. BUT, like any good knitter, I am praying I can make lemonade out of these lemons. They felted into this adorable round spike covered “thing” that if you put a face and snout on it, will look like an adorable hedgehog! Because he has a hole in his ass where the little girl was suppose to fit her foot is now only big enough to allow my finger………. he will become a finger puppet! That is going to take some fancy foot work and a good three hour session to finish it off. Wish me luck!
As for the last entry – the Dumpling bag………well, I am still knitting that as we speak!!! Ha! But don’t fear for me, I do this every year at State Fair time. I “git ‘er done” everytime – thank the Lord.
So when I am spotty on the blog posts, PLEASE don’t unsubscribe me !!!! You have to hang on long enough to find out what ribbons, if any, I earn this year! Promise to post pictures before I take them to the judging. Won’t know if I won anything till around the week of 8/20.
