What a perfect day today! Low temps, low humidity and a slight breeze. Honestly, after this past weekend with record breaking almost 100 degrees days – I thought I was at the end of my life! This weekend we walked in a parade with our Vacation Bible School float (at high noon) and on Sunday we set up the displays and classrooms in an old church with no air conditioning. I felt pretty woosy by last night. The storms came and the relief set in for the night time rest. God is good.
BEFORE the weekend and the stress of this VBS, my husband and I had a lovely evening on Thursday night with my daughter Abby and her boyfriend Richard. We went to a small community called Sylvan Beach. It sits at the very end of the largest lake that is totally enclosed in NY’s borders. Thursday night is classic car night.
They line these old beauties along the lake shore and everyone and anyone can just walk, touch and admire the splendor of these classic cars. For my husband and I it was totally a blast because these were the cars we grew up either riding in (as our parents drove) and then later on they were our “wheels”. What a wonderful time we had! It was one of the days where the temperatures and humidity were semi-low.
Some were painted up pretty like this honey.
Others had spectacular engines in stanless steel and lights! I wish I could have heard them ROAR!
This was my favorite! The grill on this sweety was just to die for! I remember my Grandpa having something like this only all black.
We spent about two hours just walking from car to car, my husband chewing the fat with the owners (he has worked for General Motors for over 30 years) along with Richard who has been turning a wrench for most of his “young life”. The sun began to set and the cars started their journeys home – the roar and sound was just heart stopping!
We went to a nice restaurant on the other side of the lake and called it a night at about 10pm. It was a great time. Thanks Abby and Richard (they go to car night and bike night all the time)!
VBS starts tonight. You probably won’t hear from me, BUT I will be reading your blogs!!
